Cartaromana is one of the most beautiful and evocative beaches in Ischia — a small sandy cove near Ischia Porto with crystal-clear turquoise water, natural thermal springs rising from the seabed, and a stunning view of the Aragonese Castle. It is one of the island's best-kept secrets and a favourite among those who know Ischia well.
The beach
Cartaromana is a relatively small beach — quiet, intimate and never overcrowded, even in August. The water is shallow and clear, making it ideal for swimming and snorkelling. The volcanic seabed is rich in marine life and the visibility underwater is excellent.
Natural thermal springs
The real secret of Cartaromana is its natural thermal springs. Warm water (around 30-35°C) bubbles up through the sand and rocks along the shore, creating natural hot pools where you can bathe in geothermally heated seawater. A unique and memorable experience.
The view of the Aragonese Castle
The panoramic position of the beach, with the Aragonese Castle rising dramatically from its islet just offshore, makes Cartaromana one of the most photogenic spots in all of Ischia — particularly beautiful at sunrise and sunset.
How to get there
Cartaromana is located near Ischia Ponte, a short distance from the Aragonese Castle. The easiest way to get there is by scooter or small car, parking in the area near the beach. Alternatively, you can reach it by sea taxi from Ischia Porto. Rent your vehicle with Ischia Fast Rental.
